Yoga and Fitness

Yoga fitness is gymnastics, fitness training, weight control, stress reducer, meditation, breath control, spiritual tradition in India, and a way to improve and maintain your overall health all rolled into one. The word yoga comes from the ancient Sanskrit language spoken by the traditional religious elite of India, the Brahmins. Yoga Fitness is a non-purist Hatha and Ashtanga (power) style yoga class, which does not adhere to any particular philosophy, religion, or type of meditation. There is no chanting, Sanskrit words, or religious connotations used. Yoga fitness is for the physical body. Holistic yoga is for the body mind and spirit.

Breathe in and out with full force and maintain the pace of respiration either slow, medium or fast depending on the physical strength. Fast pace of inhaling and exhaling creates loud sound in breathing. Breathing should always be even, smooth and have a natural rhythm. Most people who aren’t able to breathe properly only use about half of their complete lung capacity. Breathing is an involuntary act; it is an essential part of life. Although we cannot control whether or not we breathe, we can control the way that we breathe. Breathing is also the guide in basic yoga for coming into an asana, holding an asana, and coming out of it. All the movements are ideally done gracefully. Physical and breathing exercises, as well as contemplation, may help many people, training them to be relaxed. This is certainly beneficial, particularly because life today involves much stress.
