Yoga for Depression and Anxiety
Yoga for Depression and Anxiety with Ira Israel is a unique wellness and fitness DVD that contains a 75 minute all-level vinyasa flow yoga class specifically designed to cultivate peace of mind. The DVD also contains a discussion of how our minds function and how yoga helps treat depression and anxiety. Ira Israel is a Psychotherapist, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, Certified Yoga Therapist, and Registered Yoga Teacher E-RYT500. He has Master of Arts degrees in Psychology, Buddhism and Hinduism, and Philosophy. Yoga expert Seane Corn tells us: Through Ira's intelligent and contemporary voice, he is uniquely able to communicate traditional mind/body practices, making yogic philosophies and modern day psychology a natural blend that is necessary for Self-awareness and transcendence to occur. He understands that healing is not possible without awareness and as a yogi and therapist is skilled at guiding his students and clients to richly explore the depths of their inner lives and relationship to Mystery while also staying firmly rooted in the here and now. I recommend Ira's work. He is a relatable and caring presence whose skill comes from self-experience as well as education.

AWESOME AND INSPIRING WORKOUT,
I suffer from mild anxiety and wanted to try a natural way of coping with it. After seeing all the great reviews on this DVD, I had to try it– and I am so glad I did! First off, it is a great workout. Second, it really does help me relax. At the end of the DVD Ira says something about how if you just concentrated solely on your breathing and nothing else for even one breath, then it did its job in ceasing your anxiety. It’s really taught me how to take 75 minutes out of my day and instead of constantly thinking and worrying, just concentrate on my breathing. It can be done!– you can realize how it feels to think more clearly! I’m not in the best of shape in order to do yoga, so unfortunately, I can’t achieve all of the poses yet, but it’s my goal to do so and I’m hoping it just gets better in time!

|Masterful!,
Having tried over the years to start a yoga practice at home, I never thought that I would “get into” another yoga video. But, this one is a surprise. I greatly enjoyed the “real world” introductory session in which Ira challenges listeners to question their individual states of being; he seems genuinely interested in helping folks find a change in perspective, which, in my view, truly begins any journey towards healing. The choice of a waterside nature setting, both before and after the actual teaching, was especially calming to my spirit. The studio setting was a pleasant space, except for the unnecessary placement of some background equipment which distracted me at times from the student’s MOST graceful and perfected, uh, form (I am sure that some appropriate Sanskrit word would apply). What an inspiration I found her to be! Her precision in practice was easily matched by Ira’s masterful command of the instruction. After the first viewing, I had the sense that his teaching style was so far above any typical yoga class endured “at the gym.” Ira’s delivery evidences the committed effort of a devoted and studied practitioner of an ancient tradition. And, other than wanting the camera to move at times toward the steady voice of the teacher, I was pleased with the editing between and among the various spaces presented. Overall, I feel that this is a very personal offering by a serious professional intending to benefit any potential viewers.

|Great Daily Practice tape,
This is a great Dvd to support a daily practice at home. Ira’s voice is both motivating and grounding, soulful and humorous, with plenty of wonderful cues; just a perfect amount of “talking” during the practice so that you won’t get tired of it after a few viewings. This is one is a keeper, and one that I’ll actually use.
